The Jade Brigade proved once again that comebacks are their specialty, ripping home a stunning 20-10 victory over Paul Roos in Cape Town. Stellenberg dominated the second half, turning what was a 10-0 deficit at the break into a monumental upset. The attacking punch came from the depth of the squad, spearheaded by tries from right wing Ralton Rhode, lock Juvan Burden, and tighthead prop Janu Venter. The comeback was sealed with a crucial penalty goal from flyhalf Ethan van Biljon. This victory follows Stellenberg’s continued ‘giant-killing’ spree this season, having also beaten Paarl Gim and Grey College. In other Western Cape action, Paarl Boys’ and Oakdale settled for a 13-13 draw, but Wynberg opened up their southern suburbs derby account with a solid 27-17 win over Rondebosch. Meanwhile, Durbanville edged SACS in a tight encounter, taking the win 20-18. Elsewhere, Maritzburg College showcased their might, defeating Glenwood with commanding authority in a 33-13 performance, while Queen’s kept the momentum going with a 27-17 win at Stirling.
